I was going to ask you over on Flickr if there was any rye flour in your recipe, but I would say that between the coffee, the honey, the cinnamon and the cardamom, it really doesn't need it.

One of my little pals has a honey cake recipe with rye flour and a substantial measure of Penzeys Baking Spice -- basically, pain d'epices. It is also a beautiful recipe. I'd like to try your recipe, though. :)

No, it's sufficiently strongly-flavoured that I think rye might be overdoing it--as is, I tend to use a mix of unbleached plain and brown flour in my baking anyway, and I used only white flour for this cake.

I almost always brew a pot of something monstrously strong, so that's what I used. I'd imagine just use whatever's left over from the morning coffee pot.
