Visit Orc Dungeon, 2nd floor, and you'll meet every AFK alchemist on your server. (Well, on Valk at least.)

I know that RO has limited funds and therefore applies most of their effort to dealing with Ymir ... the sad thing is, though, Valkyrie is the equivalent of the "trial" version. Seeing what I see on Valk does not inspire me to pay cash to go to Ymir. If I had never posted on ROLJ, I would have simply assumed that Ymir is the same deal, and why would I pay for that? Ultimately, their lack of care for the bot/zeny buying issues on Valk hurt their chances for attracting new players.

I avoid Prontera at all costs, only going there to AFK and vend on my merchant. Bot spam is insane, and the DBs outside town make getting there risky anyway.

Sometimes I think Valk is a server run by bots, with bots leveling/getting items to sell to other bots. It gives "The Matrix" a whole new perspective!

I've been playing iRO Valk recently; got a ~45ish female thief named Guindita who is also going rogue (on account of daggersins being too stupid crazy expensive to bother with when I already got one on ex-Chaos).

Sadly, your estimates seem pretty much true. Even I'm a robot.

Everything is insanely expensive these days, especially on Valk, since Gravity does very little to control the bots/zeny buying. I have crappy gear from an NPC!

ME TOO! It's like when you first started and couldn't afford anything even halfway decent!

tbh I don't really mind the bots so much (since I grew up on Chaos and all), but the zeny-spamming needs to get cracked down on. I'm sick of getting flooded every time I walk into town.
