I found this article about what they think about it. (This is the Canadian Constitution Foundation, they help people defend their rights)

..... Only one of these conflicting claims can be granted. Whichever one wins, the other will of necessity be violated ( ... )

yeah, but if someone had a religion where they couldn't touch black people, nobody on earth would put up with that.

Wow, as someone who is black, someone who was Muslim and someone who is female, you are comparing apples to oranges.

Not sure which hole you climbed out of but please go back there.

How am I comparing apples to oranges? Because there is a 'sexual' component in one but not the other? I believe your oranges aren't relevant to the comparison. In fact, it makes it WORSE because then it's basically screaming objectification of women.

So standing up for the rights of women means I came out of a hole? Niiiiice.

You should unclutch your pearls on this.

The barber has a right to refuse to cut a woman's hair if it is against his religion to do so. The woman has a right to get her hair styled in any style she wants. However, she does not have the right to force someone to cut her hair any more than anyone has the right to force her to have her hair cut or not. She was given the option to go to another very nearby business to get the style she desired.

Tolerance is a two way street.

Honestly, if I was going to feel ragey about any of this, it'd be at the woman who got angry that the Muslim men were not comfortable giving her a haircut and turned her away. It doesn't seem right to ask somebody to violate their faith because it's an inconvenience to go elsewhere, especially since they offered her an alternative. That's the great thing about the cultural mosaic as opposed to a melting pot: it challenges us to understand each other, and I think that's a good thing.

I think if you can't do the job then you'd better find something else to make a living at. This sexist crap is BULLSHIT and has no place in this world.

This is no different from the pharmacist who wants to deny women the morning after pill because it violates his religion to dispense it or the muslim who denied the woman with the seeing-eye dog a taxi ride because his religion didn't allow him to be in the same car as a dog. It's utter crap.

Wow, the morning after pill comparison. Really?

You don't think it's a bit of a reach to compare emergency medical needs to a haircut?

So are the Muslim women who go to women's only salons "backwards" as well? I think you're really wrong on this one. She should have just gone to the other location.
