And then Rae's head exploded

Apr 06, 2008 01:33

Ugh! I worked all day, came home to have to take my best friend to get his groceries for the month, sat on the couch with my husband for an hour before he went to bed, and then got on to have to look at crap posted by ppl who need their heads examined!

My post at stop_plagiarism brought with it a Tin Man fandom person who thinks the comm is basically a witch ( Read more... )

I'm a heartless bigmouth who goes around searching for ppl to accuse. Didn't you know that? Well...that's the way they seem to perceive me anyway. *sigh*

With each week that passes I get more and more fed up with the crap. I'm tired, I can't write, my bodies protesting the extreme stress of RL and the fandom seems to be compounding it instead of making it better.

I'm trying not to let stuff drive me away, but my fun, relaxation time...not so fun or relaxing anymore.

Because you take everything to heart, and it hurts you when people say/do mean things. You've got a huge heart sweetie. . . I know, I've seen it.

But yeah, I can see where pain and exhaustion take their toll. I'm in the same boat *hugs*
I'm hoping things start to get better for you, that everything starts to look differently after you see the doctor.

*hugs*

No, don't run. We like you here. ;)

This is the thing that pisses me off the most about almost every plagerism case -- the aftermath. It's bad enough that people are thieves, but they almost always decide they have to be liars, too. They start screaming they didn't do it despite the fact that the odds of writing a scene word for word exactly like someone else are astronomical. And then, invariably, they turn on the person who tried to do a good deed by calling them out. They've stolen and betrayed the original writer and everyone who read "their" fic, and yet, they turn themselves into the victim. It disgusts me and shows how very little character these people have.

I'm sorry you're dealing with this. I've been there, too, and I know how much it completely sucks, especially since you're not the one who should be getting shit thrown at them. But you did the right thing. *hugs*

I'm so very sorry you had to deal with this kind of stuff. Right now I hate everything and most of it's due to all the time I could have spent reading or cuddling up to my husband late at night instead of being here trying to do the right thing and out the plagiarist. Who really cares anyway? There will be another one in a week and most seem to treat it like some kind of wank or as if it means nothing at all.

Gah, I'm being all whiney. Ignore me.

Well, as someone who has both been plagerized and been on the receiving end of a plagerist's wrath, I say it definitely matters. Yes, there are the people who don't care and are morons about the whole thing, but it is something that we non-morons have to be diligent about. It hurts the fandom and the writers. It's sad that everyone can't see that, but for the ones who have dealt with it first had or have the common sense to see what it does to fandom, it's important -- and we care.
