Poor Tucker cat

I just returned from the pet emergency place where I left my cat Tucker who is now having surgery on his cheek.  Evidently he was in a cat fight or something because there are two puncture wounds there and an abscess.  I'm not sure when it happened.  I noticed a couple of days ago he was acting funny... he wasn't hanging around me as much as usual ( Read more... )

I can *so* relate. I've had that problem twice now and it's never pretty. Especially because cats are usually so stiff-upper-lip that you only notice days later that something is really wrong.

You're so right! He doesn't make a lot of noise anyway and so I didn't even notice, which makes me feel bad. :( But, he seems to be doing better tonight.

Sorry about poor Tucker. And poor you, for having to give him antibiotics now! Ever tried the Greenies pill pockets? I haven't yet. My neighbor got a little pill stick thingy that you use to get the pill way back in their throat without putting your fingers at risk. I've tried that and it works pretty good.

Oh, I'm giving him a liquid antibiotic and so I have a syringe thing. I fill it up with 2ml of this pink antibiotic and squirt it in his mouth. When I do it right he swallows it easily, but I'm not that fast and sometimes it dribbles on the floor when he's trying to escape. :) But I think this is much easier than a pill although I did get a bit scratched up today.

OK, that went before I was finished. I was trying to say that he won't appreciate those antibiotics, but I'm sure he'll be just fine. I hope he's feeling better soon. Sorry you had to deal with something like this with him.

No, he doesn't like the antibiotics, but he seems to be doing okay so far except he wants to go outside with the other cats!!

I was just thinking about you yesterday and wondering how you were doing! I hope things are going well for you!

Poor Tucker. I'm glad to hear he's doing okay. He must be doing very well if he wants to go outside with the other cats.

He is doing better, but he hates being in here when the other cats get to go outside... it's just not fair! :)

No, it isn't. And I understand him so well. Anyway, he's got pluck so I'm betting that in a few days he'll be as good as new going outside with the other cats.

I love your icon. It reminds me of Pelé, my darling black tom.
