Ahhh I stand corrected, then. I personally find it impossible to lie to myself when I always know what the truth is in such situations. But then I suppose that, in effect, the process known in the novel Nineteen Eighty-Four as 'doublethink' is a form of lying to oneself - firmly believing that something is true whilst simultaneously knowing that the real truth is in fact the reverse
