I feel compelled to note that the director has actually managed to make more movies, the latest of which (from last year), The Gertrude Stein Mystery or Some Like It Art, IMDB describes as "Gertrude Stein lived on into the 21st Century, changing history throughout her life in incredible secret missions."

I remember watching this ages ago. I remember enjoying the bits with Christopher Lee in, because, well, as you say, Christopher Lee makes the bits in which he appears good. The rest is a vague blur.

The origin of the term 'glacial pacing' ought to be is the Chinese movie The Iceman Cometh, in which the hero and the villain are fighting on a mountainside until they are suddenly swallowed by a glacier. Because that is just how badass their fight was.
