Party game: Alaska commits suicide; Miles becomes obsessed with her last words and is driven to solve the mystery that they represent, possibly causing a reconciliation with her family by proxy after he "understands" Alaska, and almost certainly achieving some kind of personal growth and understanding of his own.

Generally correct, but without the reconciliation or last word obsession.

Game: There is angst and romance and then one of them dies. Possibly in the snow.

My guess: Alaska dies, and Miles Learns About Life. They definitely make out before that happens, but I don't think they have sex.

She makes him live a little, he has those first quasi-pangs of adolescence, she kills herself in a dangerous stunt that is in no way his fault, he blames himself and decides to live because that would be what she would want.

I haven't read that many YA novels, but I'm betting on it being similar to Bridge to Terebithia.
