Venetia, by Georgette Heyer, is now one of my two favorite books by her. The other is Cotillion, with The Unknown Ajax, Sprig ( Read more... )

Venetia is one of my favorite Heyers, and of those favorites, the only one I haven't reread yet. I'll have to rectify that.

I think Venetia is one that I put low on my list of "find it and read it" books by Heyer due to the descriptions I'd seen of it. Having never heard anyone speak of it, that seemed as good a method as any for arranging which Heyers to seek out first, etc. Based on your thoughts, though, it looks like I'm going to have to move it closer to the top of my list of things to look out for. It sounds like the kind of story I enjoy.

Yay Heyer! I swear, I will read her eventually. I've had her books sitting on my shelves for about a year now.

I read one of Eloisa James' first romances, and while it didn't totally impress me, it was fairly pleasant. I may pick her up again, especially if I can find her books in the airport!

Venetia is one of my favorites too -- after The Unknown Ajax and Frederica, but on par with The Grand Sophy and The Nonesuch.

Clearly, I need to try Eloisa James.
