Interesting article. I'm glad the movement is getting enough focus to alert some of the major newspapers out there. Calling out M Night's hypocrisy is also a nice touch.

Good article is good. anonymous April 8 2010, 04:46:59 UTC
It's very encouraging to see people starting to really listen and that more are listening. Especially in a paper like The LA Times. If more reputabe newspapers run articles about the racebending and Hollywood whitewashing in general, it will really get people talking and thinking about it.

I don't think they are taking our side. They are very clearly pointing out that these are fan comments.

I'm taking the cautious, pessimistic view that most newspapers won't take our side. The news has this thing going for them where they try to stay as neutral as possible and end up giving credence to both sides, sometimes (and perhaps more often than one would wish) to the detriment of the truth. This is how the Tea Partiers end up looking legitimate, even if they believe in things like "Obama is Hitler" and "universal healthcare means the government is going to kill grandma."

It's stupid, but sadly enough, we would be lucky to have our side so much as aired. This is why the Wednesday Spotlights and the Interviews are my favorite part of the site. We're recording our history and we're showing how these issues have personally shaped our lives. I think those stories are some of the most persuasive things we have.

*did not mean to sell the Wednesday Spotlights but would encourage anyone and everyone to submit a profile*

warning: when I see this coverage in Variety--the movie industry's own newspaper--on that day I will dance.
