Jackson Rathbone and Nicola Peltz at the KCA

Mar 24, 2010 10:46

Got these off a post in AvatarSpirit. Nickelodeon is now showing ads promoting the KCA, with Jackson Rathbone and Nicola Peltz doing some slime-bending. It's also possible that Dev Patel will make an appearance at Kid's Choice. Anyway the interesting bit is the new screen from the advert ( Read more... )

Wouldn't it be funny if it turns out Mike and/or Bryan drew that poster (Aang, not the writing) and purposely made it look different than the actor?

Because that does not look like the actor to me.

MTE, and it doesn't have the weird movie arrow either, does it? ._.

Exactly. I'm wondering if it's a mild shout-out.

Mike and/or Bryan would probably know not to draw the robes going right over left.

and yet--and yet--if the poster were rendered in Ye Old Englishe we are supposed to suspend disbelief and go "oh that's just so the audience can read it"

but heaven help us to have readable "other than English"

See I thought the point of making up their own language was to make something unique and not necessarily Asian, since the world is full of unique and not necessarily Asian people (Waterbenders, not Inuits! Firebenders, not Asians!).

But it just look like pretend Chinese characters. Like a five year old scribbling and pretending she knows how to do Japanese calligraphy. D: I'm so confused

People need to stop hiring Hahn to do their commercial voiceovers, I mean really.:P

Wow. I love how they're willing to acknowledge Avatar in the KCAs when it's this pathetic adaptation but when the original show won best animated series all they did was a 2 second blurb of text at the bottom of the screen that you would miss if you blinked...

That's just so insulting to imitate the calligraphy when the show so intentionally used real Chinese characters. I guess it does mirror the casting...let's pretend to represent Asian people and culture without actually having to. Yes! x_x

THIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. I was SO upset when that happened, too! We finally got together as a fandom to make it happen, but we got nothing. DX I've always suspected they had an animated clip of Spongebob ready for when they won, but since they had nothing of the sort prepped in case AtLA won, they got a blurb instead. >|

I'm peeved too. Avatar wins... no acknowledgment. I can understand that a very short animated clip might be a bit much, but they could have invited Bryke to get the award, or having Jack improve something on Sokka's behalf would have been so much win!

I wish they put half as much effort in pimping for the last half of season three as they're doing for the movie, they could have had awesome ratings.
