A) avatar_fans  has three The Last Airbender movie reviews up. They're all written by people who haven't watch the animated series before, so they're pretty objective.

Reactions. )

movies: the last airbender, tv shows: leverage, random thoughts, tv shows: avatar, real life

I hear ya on the TLA movie. It's like, WHY change so much? WHY change what was a working formula? I mean, I knew cuts had to be made. It was going to be a bitch to put 10 hours worth of story into 2 or less. But all this shit they're pulling? Makes me want to kick a puppy. I'm that upset over it. >:

WHY change what was a working formula?

Outside all the casting fail, I feel like the producers and the director don't quite grasp what makes the animated series unique and interesting; like the fact that the series has amazing moral lessons while being incredibly light-hearted. When I heard that they're going to cut Sokka's character to be more serious I know that they're going to miss the point.

And they did.

EXACTLY! Every point was missed on that series. It's like, NO ONE SMILES IN THE TRAILERS EVER. And I hate it. I mean, I never THOUGHT someone could miss the point quite as badly as M. Night OBVIOUSLY has. Yet, he continues to prove me more and more wrong with more revealed about the movie. *sighs hugely* One thing that comes up in relation to how serious the Not!characters are in the trailer is how, because they were light hearted, you knew that when they got serious, IT WAS SERIOUS. Now? That among a million other things is lost in the movie. >_<;

NO ONE SMILES IN THE TRAILERS EVER.

*nods* It's amazing how the simple things mean so much; it changes the tone of the story considerably.

I think I've heard one fan say this, and I think it's the appropriate description of this movie: They turned The Last Airbender into your standard winter popcorn flick that's hoping to be the new blockbuster.

I agree. The mods have said that over and over again but some of the members don't seem to want to listen although the mods have said over and over again, everyone has the right to their opinion.

I know, right? Reading the attacking comments made me wanna punch someone. IT'S OKAY TO BE POSITIVE. Why do everyone has it in their minds that being a cynic is a cool thing? Okay, sometimes it's cool (and witty) and the other times, IT'S HURTING PEOPLE. I hate to play the 'don't like, don't read' card, but it's pretty much what I'm screaming right now.

As you said it could have been so much better.

THOSE WASTED POTENTIALS.

Overall, it's the "I'm right and you're wrong" attitude that strikes again with this fandom.

*sighs* Yup, this pretty much sums up the A:TLA fandom in general.

I'm trying to avoid reading anything ATLA-movie related now...but I too, feel vindictive pleasure at the actors for fail!Katara and fail!Sokka and fail!Aang sucking.

Meanwhile, that sushi looks obscenely delicious.
