Oh, yeah. I used to sit at the counters in the sewing section of WalMart of Hancock's and look through the big pattern catalogs at all the costumes.

Simplicity, simplicity, simplicity! I say, let your affairs be as two or three, and not a hundred or a thousand instead of a million count half a dozen, and keep your accounts on your thumb-nail.

That's in my second post.

Also, I'm related to Ralph Waldo Emerson.

My paternal grandmother's maternal grandfather's grandmother was an Emerson, and Ralph Waldo was HER father's cousin.

(Cool family history story about Kate Emerson. She was from an upper-class New England family [obviously] and one night at boarding school she and her roommate climbed out the window and snuck off to go see the Chautauqua show in town. And there she fell for a traveling actor named Comfort Babcock and she later ran off West with him.

As my grandmother tells it, he turned out to be much of the good-for-nothing that actors were thought to be in those days and pretty much left her to run their farm and raise their [TWELVE!!!] children on her own.

I came across her obituary a year or so ago, and although it obviously didn't discuss the curfew-breaking and possible elopment, - the facts are that she DID marry him way out West in Wisconsin somewhere, and she was just barely 18 at the time.)
