The next morning, Peter made a point of getting to work early. After a furtive look around, he tucked something into a desk drawer, then went upstairs whistling.
He'd found it in the weeds, like a gift from the gods of revenge.
When Neal arrived a few minutes later, Peter held up a theatrically coffee-stained strip of silk, his expression bland. "Can I borrow a tie?"
"Oh, sure. Uh, about yesterday..."
Peter made a dismissive gesture. "Hey, it was only a little water. No hard feelings."
His voice was as smoothly silky as the two-foot garter snake in Neal's desk.
