The imagery in this is really great, and powerful. I really like the idea that Ethan's travelled so much and so far that it doesn't really affect him any more, but that his plans to kill Danny got ruined and that pisses him off enough to make him do something stupid and mean. Love it.

Thank you! I like to think that his travels have really screwed him up pretty bad. We see evidence of that in the show, obviously, and being that he's been travelling through the anomalies since he was fourteen, he's got to have desensitised fairly a bit, I suspect! And of course there's that lovely moment where he fails to kill Danny, which I just love because it says so much about his character. Obviously he's none too pleased with Danny and he's mentioned that he's thought about killing him innumerable times, but then when given the opportunity, he can't go through with it. I really like that contrast. And it would certainly have to piss him off.

In a way I feel sorry for Ethan. Those past years must have been very bad for him.

I definitely feel sorry for him. He's really, really screwed up, but there's a definite reason for it and it's very believable. He's had a hard life. (I've actually got a fic in the works that touches on various points in his life, and one of them is the first time he needs to kill another living thing and he gets really, really torn up about it! *pets* He was human once!)
