Relief (now with added narcolepsy)

Today I got the fabulous news that my Abdominal Tumor of Unusual Size (a-T.O.U.S) is benign. While a large fraction of my looming nameless angst melted away, the anxiety over the surgery and dealing with my parents snuck right into its place. This is what relief feels like in my brain, it's dropping from a generalized state of stress that was ( Read more... )

We can be cyborgs together! I still have some plastic and metal bits myself.

Though I'm sorry to hear that the tumor is aggressive but happy happy that it is benign.

Wow, that sounds complicated and stressful, but I'm so glad it's benign! I hope your surgery goes beautifully.

Very glad to hear that the tumor is benign. Not so glad to hear about the abdominal wall stuff, but at least it's something they can fix, right?

And that mesh stuff is great. I have a bit where they fixed my hernia a couple of years ago. Better than new!

Thinking good thoughts in your direction...

i'm very fortunate that it's benign. too many blessings to count!

i'm curious about your experience being enmeshed. i keep reading contradictory, or wildly varying things about the recovery. do you remember how long it was before you could drive or move comfortably?

Well, I only have a little, but I'd say that it was about a week before I could really move around again, and maybe two before I felt comfortable driving. But my incision wasn't very big, either -- maybe 2-3 inches?

that sounds similar to my last experience with abdominal surgery. though that first week isn't fun, i can definitely deal with that sort of timeline. i just hope recovery time isn't proportional to incision length /geek>.

thanks for the info and the positive thoughts!
