WriterConUK and Internetz!!

Aug 07, 2011 20:08

I'm just back from writerconuk which was absolutely fabulous, as usual, with a lovely mix of interesting and funny new people, familiar old hands that it's always nice to catch up with at conversational pace (even if they spent a considerable portion of the weekend telling me how much was going to go wrong with my body as it got older... Cheers again, gang ( Read more... )

Sue's vocal mannerisms are very catching. :)

You know, I'm still not sure about that gardening theme in the poem. Blackadder never showed any interest in gardening. I think we should change it to butlering somehow. That't the thing he wants to give up.

They are! I think there are far too many sentences that need to ended with a gratuitous 'ooh er'...

You have a good point, but I did like the way the gardening stuff tied the second half together. Maybe I should be soliciting answers on a postcard for further improved versions of the poem?? (There you go, Deb, that's a challenge for you!)

Really I think the poem developing the 'ooh er...' factor was really s2c's fault - if he hadn't mentioned Randy Duck in the first place, then it wouldn't have occurred to us when you were mentioning the need for a work ending in 'uck'... and it kind of went down hill, or down the garden path perhaps, from there :~)

Edited for clicking the wrong option in the typo correcting phase...

Hello Tara, my love!

I conked out when I got to my parents, but the cat was pleased to see me.

The cafe sounds good, but of course without the bike with basket you can't possibly be a student.

'Ow could you tha' to me, Willow??? Geddout of my pub!

It sounds like there has been much cat love everywhere... My housemate told me she'd bought some toilet bleach?

And whatevs. I have panniers! They are the One True Bicycle Accessory.

Nothing says 'I missed you' more than toilet bleach.

She has also assigned a cloth for cleaning the toilet (just the outside of the cistern? When it needs polishing? I didn't quite understand).

Glad you got back OK and I'm ignoring the 'old' hands comment *g*. I'm knackered! LOL!

It was a very good weekend wasn't it :D

Glad you got back too (I have a fear I'm too knackered to comment on everyone's post. Also I should probably decide whether I'm going to eat something in this cafe or wander home... I don't want to leave the internet!!)

It was excellent! My vote for the next meetup is definitely going to be pre-Olympics. Like in January.

(And the old hands is just my little revenge for such comments as 'once you hit 21, it's all downhill'... ;) )

Thank you so much for posting the poems. I was so disappointed that I couldn't see the text on the screen. Your workshop was one of the ones I had really been looking forward to taking part in. I got quite frustrated (and very fatigued) because I couldn't follow the discussios, particularly at the start where you were showing the results of the poll you'd carried out prior to the event.

:( That's such a shame. When the great K has the podcast up and I put up my slideshow, I'd really love to hear your comments!

Podcasts! How exciting. Do you know where they will be hosted? The wonderful K did mention something on Saturday evening but I was too knackered to process what he said.

He said he plans to put them on the website. That may mean somebody in his family finding out how to do that...

I'll have you know I'm nearly 50!! (I've been practising that for the last year or so, hoping I'll be prepared for when I actually am in a couple of years' time *g*) You young whippersnappers with your cute boots have no respect for your elders these days. When I find my docs I'm going to go out and kick some walls, but I think I've packed them away somewhere for the summer.

Twas lovely to meet you, and I loved your David Bowie/Pat Butcher Willow/Tara vibe.

Don't stay in that cafe too long, it's getting dark!

Well, clearly you're an unfamiliar old hand - I should have covered that possibility...! ;) I think I have plenty of respect (or at least as much as you lot deserve for bringing me dooooowwwwwwwwn as much as possible *gloom gloom* :P ). Definitely kick some walls; that's where the good scuffing comes in.

Your henchman was an absolute classic, I have to say. It will definitely be making it into any write-up I manage... :D

I may have to leave the cafe, you're right. If only because I think I may be stretching the internet value of my one coke a bit far...
