Well, it seems to have taken me nearly four hours, door to door, but then having a snooze on a sunny train with the windows open is one of the more pleasant ways to spend an afternoon, in my opinion. I'm gearing up for the Shakespeare Globe to Globe festival at the end of next month, so have finally started working through the logistics of it all. Most importantly, of course, is the weekend of the 25th-27th May!!!

I'm just back from writerconuk which was absolutely fabulous, as usual, with a lovely mix of interesting and funny new people, familiar old hands that it's always nice to catch up with at conversational pace (even if they spent a considerable portion of the weekend telling me how much was going to go wrong with my body as it got older... I have just signed my life away up for this year's writerconuk event thing, which anyone who's around in the UK (or could be) for the 5th-7th August should most definitely come to also. You get to meet everyone, and sit around chatting with them, and drink the hotel's booze in its fancy chairs, and have rows about the most productive way to procrastinate ( Read more... )

Faboo all round, I thought! Though, of course, I won't leave it there because I lack the ability to shut up. Especially at 1:30 in the morning when I'm mildly inebriated, as gillo and bogwitch found out, but more on that within my ( supermassive recap ramble. )

Anyway, so I spent the last weekend in Reading (and going to and from), where I met up some rather lovely people from writerconuk - making some new friends and confirming that old friends were just as amusing and cool as they had always threatened to be. Here's what I remember...
