Wow, I love how you've written this verse in many perspectives... Danzou seems like one of those ultimately evil characters in canon but I stopped reading the series before it was probably explained how he got that way. Everyone is expecting Itachi to be a stereotypical Uchiha but he isn't. When Danzou finally realizes what it is, he is so taken aback that his brain stutters to a halt for several moments, wondering if the world has gone mad.

Uchiha Itachi possesses kindness.
Now Danzo's like, shit I'll never be Hokage at this rate! >_< And the example of Itachi's kind of mercy is efficient and works out a productive punishment. The alternatives would not help Konoha and figuring an "out-of-the-box" solution proves to all of the witnesses that Itachi will be worth dying for as the next Hokage. Keep up the good work! :)

Thank you! The fic is written in a series of perspectives which are suppose to gradually come together to provide a well-rounded POV. The thing I like about Danzou is that he has his reasons... they're just not good ones, IMHO.

I think Danzou would have been fine not being the Hokage, but he wants the power. Seeing Itachi isn't going to agree with him about militarizing the village is what really pisses him off.
