for a while now, i have been thinking of doing a "favorite things" post - sort of like oprah, but without the gifting and the self-righteousness. it's a nice little way to sum up the year that was, which is the sort of thing everyone likes to do round about now. in thinking about what should go on it, i realize that it necessarily skews towards the ( Read more... )

I really like this idea! Good post! Also, way to phrase my very exact feelings on "30 Rock." I just didn't like it last year, and I stiiiillllll do not reeeaally like the Baldwin, but somehow this year it became the funniest thing ever. How did it manage that? Oh, if only we could all enjoy such a perfect transformation.

Oh wow, one of the commenters mentioned Lois Lowry - I'd forgotten about her. When I was in primary school, I read every single book of hers I could get my hands on.

:) Good list. I have a map of San Francisco pinned to the wall next to my bed to look at before I fall asleep. I figure I should memorize streets now in case, you know, I get lost there someday. Mmhm.

well, it certainly couldn't hurt. i love maps. have you seen the cool graphic posters that are maps of the city via neighborhood names in super neat fonts? i am describing it badly and too lazy too look up the link, but they're neat.

I think I have the one you're talking about. Famous and recognizable spots are drawn into the map, certain neighborhoods outlined with walking routes, neat font, and the whole thing is graphic, done in light colored pencil.

We have similar television tastes. I, too, was slow to warm to 30 Rock, but now I look forward to it. Extras is also amazing.
