So there's a convincing transvestite in my C++ class. On the first day of class at first glance I thought "that's a tranny." But after a minute I thought "well, this is a computer class... maybe it's just an unfortunate-looking lady with saggy breasts." She's about 6'1, 190 pounds and rather lean. After our teacher took roll she noticed that this ' ( Read more... )

Wow, the transvestite is kind of exciting. They're the kinds of people you never see just wandering around going about their business, unless they are just completely convincing and you never knew the difference.

And <3 festive overture. And I know what you mean about playing the bottom parts; they're always neglected. In my HS band we had a semester where or director seemingly went crazy and switched up the parts randomly; we put our names in a hat and whatever we got was what part we played. Still same chair, just different part. The first chair ended up with 3nd part, me as second ended up with 4th, and the rest of the 7 of us got mingled up as well. It was a blast, being able to get the lower parts heard, AND not have to worry about the upper register being a bitch lol

I love cats and kittens; My family got two kittens since I have been away at school so every time I go home it's a giant love fest. The little grey one caught her first mouse and brought it to ME while I was home, it was absolutely adorable.

Yeah, you just gotsta <3 Festive Overture. I remember on my first day of Wind Ensemble this year we had in our folders a piece called Festive Overture but it was written by some other noob. Wtf right? Our director handed out the good one after he saw we clarinet players were decent enough to handle it. I don't know if you've ever heard of it (I never had until we played it), but we're also playing a piece by Richard Wagner called Trauermusik. Wagner wrote it to be played at the funeral of his friend Carl Maria von Weber, of whom you also might have heard :) It's one of the most powerful and evocative slow pieces I've ever heard. I used to really hate playing the slow pieces, but with age I gained a considerate appreciation for them.

I generally use my livejournal as a forum to promote works of the Romantic Period, particularly solo piano. I worship Beethoven, Schubert, Chopin and the others as nothing less than gods. Josef Haydn can suck it.
