I love this...these two are such a mess. Great writing for Benny's voice. The bit at the end where he's pondering the future goes along with how I picture Benny as an old soul.

I love how you described the sad physical condition of both Winchesters, Sam's room, Benny's hunger, his cooking "therapy," the Sam/Benny banter, and Benny's thoughts at the end. You even worked in the MIA Alpha!Vamp. ("See you next season," indeed. Fie on thee, lying!Show.)

AaaaaaAAAaahhhh I love this. I should just invest in one of those customized rubber stamps for my comments re: the beauty of H/C, irrespective of anything else, because <33333. Dean/alcohol is my sadTP, and I love the way it's thrown into the mix amidst Sam, Dean, and Benny here. I love Benny's, hmmm, sort of reticent yet compassionate-all-the-same narrative here. And Sam's first line is just sublime; his entire entrance, really. I love how palpably his presence shifts the dynamic of the fic--and how that dynamic demonstrates considerable fluctuation thereafter, right up until the end. Like galwithglasses said, they really are a complete mess. But not a hopeless mess! Really excellent fill. Thank you so much for this!
Wowsers, what a tremendous comment! It's so nice when this much observation has been put into a reply, especially since I'm always positive no one will ever read my junk, amidst so much amazing writing here on LJ and in the fandom, in general.
your introduction of sam is so good. it literally changes the story in a heartbeat--but then, your benny is just super-impressive and he remains calm even with the atmospheric whiplash. it's spot-on and really cool to read, because i can literally feel benny change from comforting to placating.
also--purgatory as narnia! definitely my favorite detail.
one minor issue: "If I weren’t gonna hurl before, I am now." it was a little awkward to me, and took me out of the story for a bit--i think 'if i wasn't gonna hurl before' sounds better, but i could be wrong. and even if you don't change it, it doesn't make this any less enjoyable (:
I knew something didn't quite ring right with that phrase! THANK YOU. I can change it in a heartbeat. Easy peasey lemon squeezy. ;)
Also, bless you for putting up with my whiplash! I think since this was such a short little bit of h/c, I was craving some excitement. Cue Sam Winchester, wannabe bad-ass. Booyah!
