As much as it pained her, she put on the dress she had been given-such a shame, to lack red for an event, but it must have been all part of the winter season. For what the mask lacked in detail, it made up for in how it fit over her glasses, and she showed up in her best high spirits.
Now, where would be best to sit for a while and observe the others...a seat near the dance floor would do nicely, and so she would take it up. At least until she finished this drink.

She felt as if she already knew so few of the women here, but the masks - her own included - added another layer of anonymity. Glass of wine caught in her fingers, she glanced over the gathered crowd, eyes catching on a woman seated on the other side of the room, a red-haired woman in a dress of silver-gray. Familiarity nagged at her, but as soon as she attempted to recall the other woman, the feeling slipped away.
Intrigued, she approached slowly, the heels of her shoes clicking lightly on the ballroom floor.
"Enjoying yourself?"

"I suppose I am, though I've only just arrived. And yourself?"
Perhaps if she took the time to invoke conversation, why the other was familiar would become clear. Although it wasn't really important, the recognition. Neither was introducing herself, she felt, or even asking for a name.

Being Kyoko, she made a beeline for the snack tables.

She, too, sidled up to the snacks in short order, seeming a little off balance as she leaned against it, and glanced over at Kyoko. "You look like you're about to take it all and run."
Reply
"Nah, there's plenty here for everyone so long as nothing goes to waste. Want something? I'd recommend this."
She held up a skewer of meatballs.

Taking the suggestion, she grabbed herself some meatballs, stuffing one in her mouth and chewing slowly.

"Leggo, leggo, leggo!" she insisted as she was bodily dragged, kicking and biting, into the Pavilion. Much to her shame, she'd been forced into the worst, most girliest dress she could imagine, and a matching frilly pink mask. In desperation, she let fly her last-resort plea for help: "Rape! Raaaaape! Somebody help me!"
Did she hate this outfit? She loathed it. But her kidnapper had been too stubborn to shake, and so here she was, deposited right in the middle of this fancy ball, looking like a frilly idiot.
"What're you looking' at?" she demanded of the closest passerby. She snapped her teeth threateningly at them.
[ooc: Excellen is dragging her to the ball, but any and all characters are welcome to witness the spectacle she's putting on.]

All the anonymity was exciting, and sort of freeing. Nobody would know what she did tonight. She could be a bit more daring than usual, and what was the worst that could happen?

Of course, that image all but crumbles the instant she opens her mouth. "Wow~ Everything and everyone looks so fancy! I wonder if I should have changed my hair a bit, too..." She muses aloud, not paying attention to who might be in earshot.

She then puts her hands on her hips, smiling at the other yong lady. "There's something to be said about keeping things simple. Looks like you agree!" If the simple hairstyle was anything to go by.

She hard made her way over to the food, and was helping herself to a plateful of food and a big glad of wine.

"You look like a gay toddler puked on you."
Reply
"Sorry, girl," she said. "I didn't pick it, I just rock it!"
She spun around. It made her dress look vaguely like a swarm of butterflies taking flight.
