Amamiya slid into the hot water, leaving her towel by the water's edge and sighing as the heat drained the tension right out of her muscles. She'd known the onsen was here, but she hadn't made much use of it until now; She was going to have remedy that. This really was the best way to relax.

Amamiya knelt down behind Fionna, and grabbed the shower head, running it on Fionna's hair. "I was angry at first," she said. "But then...well, it's a bit too complicated to explain, but suffice it to say that the Queen did me a very large favor and earned my gratitude."

Fionna liked this feeling: someone other than her, running water through her hair and at least trying to make sure that it would behave. It wouldn't, her hair was as unpredictable as herself, but still.

"How do ya mean?" Fionna asked. "Did she, uh, find a girl for you to be happy with, or is your time here more shmowzow than back home?"

She might not be able to actually get it under control, but she would try her damndest. She began running her fingers through Fionna's hair as she sprayed, trying to ensure saturation right through the thick jungle of hair.

"Nothing like that, I'm afraid," she said with a chuckle. "I...well, I suppose you could say that I had a curse laid on me for a very long time, and one of her Incarnae removed it."

Fionna laughed. It tickled! Her hair was not used to so much attention, and it was already trying to work against allowing this new person to touch her so much! Fionna, however, did not complain.

She shrugged. "Really? You seem pretty nice. But what's this about a curse, man? What did they take away?"

Fionna was all ears now. It was the first time she actually heard GOOD talked about the queen.

This hair practically seemed to have a mind of its own! Amamiya struggled to keep it from tangling as she worked it. Once she was satisfied with her rince, though, she leaned forward, touching against Fionna's back briefly while she reached for the shampoo.

"Well..." She stopped suddenly, as if from habit, but then pressed on. "There was a living curse, living in my mind. And it forced me to travel back and forth from a wasteland future, and fight to save it in the present...and if I told anyone about it, it would kill me."

Even Fionna would have admitted that her hair was a part of her anatomy that even she really didn't understand, but as far as actually combing and brushing it, that part wasn't hard, just long. She twitched slightly at the touch to her back, as it was unexpected, then relaxed.

She WAS listening though, and the story she was hearing definitely blowing her mind! "A living curse?" She said, looking shocked. "Man, that sounds awful! I don't mind the fighting part, I do that anyway, but having it take you back and forth and having it able to kill you? That's messed up!"

Amamiya began lathering shampoo into Fionna's hair. There was so much of it that it was going to require half the damn bottle.

"It wasn't the fighting itself, per se...but the isolation, and having to watch everyone else caught in the game's web die, and the inability to tell anyone...it was awful. And even when I was brought here, although the curse couldn't pull me away anymore, I still couldn't speak about it."

Fionna was, of course, blissfully unaware of exactly how much effort was going into her hair, but she could at least feel it, and she was definitely grateful.

"What the nu...uh, I mean, man, that's terrible." As annoyed as she had been earlier with that other girl, this one and her story broke her out of her slang. "So you couldn't tell anybody about all the stuff you saw, and you had to see people die? That's rough. I hope you don't ever get brought back. That's too much for someone to say and not go a little crazy, ya know?"

Well maybe a little slang.

"I do still want to go back," she explained. "I had people depending on me and, well...a boy..."

Fionna can't see with her back turned, but Amamiya's face was lighting up bright red at the thought.

"B-but I am grateful to the Queen for releasing me!" she hurriedly added. "So I'm not as angry about it as other people."

Fionna smiled. "Then you better keep your promises, man. I kinda envy those people who can find someone they care about and stick by em even if they aren't around. That takes a lot, especially when biz is so weird. Now I know the queen can't change who you like."

Yes, even someone as genuinely as naive as Fionna could still read between the lines. She fidgeted with her hair a little.

"I don't like gettin' kidnapped," Fionna said. "That sucks, and no one who wants to show people a new world should do dumb stuff like that. But I dunno, girls are mostly ok here, and I don't making new friends."

Amamiya sighed. "Of course I'm going to if I ever return to my world," she said. "But...well, I've been here so long that the fight has probably already been resolved without me. And Ageha...well, I liked him, and he liked me, but we were just beginning acknowledge it. I wouldn't be surprised if he...if he'd..."

Her hands were shaking ever so slightly, and she busied them with Fionna's hair to settle them. "I'm sorry, I don't mean to bother you with my problems," she said.

"Hey man, its all right." Fionna was not the type of girl to feel like someone was bothering her unless they acted like they were better than her, like that girl from earlier. "I was told when you get brought back, its the exact time when you left, so don't worry. He still likes you. How could he not? No one that careful about hair would leave a dude's mind. I know lotsa guys, and they know an awesome girl when they see one."

Fionna was not shy about praise.

Amamiya couldn't help laughing a little at the other girl's logic. She wasn't particularly good with her hair, after all. Fionna just didn't do anything for it.

"Thank you," she said. "I don't know if I'll ever get to go home, but when I do I hope he's waiting for me."

That knowledge was sort of worse, in a way, though. It might be an instant for him, but it had still been a year for her...as if she didn't feel guilty enough already whenever she felt an attraction to one of the other girls here in the Gardens.

"Well, it's not like we were even dating yet," she muttered to herself.

Fionna's logic: strange and unusual, but she was going to be who she was no matter what anyone said. She really couldn't fathom why people made everything seem so complicated when it didn't have to be.

Then again, people were complicated, and so, in turn, was life.

"I know he will man. If he's worth it, he will be."

She shrugged. "As long as you know what to do on a date, so what? Dating is no big biz."

Said the dateless hero.

"Alright, there" she said. "I've managed to shampoo your entire mane."

It had taken a lot of shampoo.

"Close your eyes," she instructed before dumping a whole basin of water onto Fionna's head.
