"How do ya mean?" Fionna asked. "Did she, uh, find a girl for you to be happy with, or is your time here more shmowzow than back home?"
Reply
"Nothing like that, I'm afraid," she said with a chuckle. "I...well, I suppose you could say that I had a curse laid on me for a very long time, and one of her Incarnae removed it."
Reply
She shrugged. "Really? You seem pretty nice. But what's this about a curse, man? What did they take away?"
Fionna was all ears now. It was the first time she actually heard GOOD talked about the queen.
Reply
"Well..." She stopped suddenly, as if from habit, but then pressed on. "There was a living curse, living in my mind. And it forced me to travel back and forth from a wasteland future, and fight to save it in the present...and if I told anyone about it, it would kill me."
Reply
She WAS listening though, and the story she was hearing definitely blowing her mind! "A living curse?" She said, looking shocked. "Man, that sounds awful! I don't mind the fighting part, I do that anyway, but having it take you back and forth and having it able to kill you? That's messed up!"
Reply
"It wasn't the fighting itself, per se...but the isolation, and having to watch everyone else caught in the game's web die, and the inability to tell anyone...it was awful. And even when I was brought here, although the curse couldn't pull me away anymore, I still couldn't speak about it."

"What the nu...uh, I mean, man, that's terrible." As annoyed as she had been earlier with that other girl, this one and her story broke her out of her slang. "So you couldn't tell anybody about all the stuff you saw, and you had to see people die? That's rough. I hope you don't ever get brought back. That's too much for someone to say and not go a little crazy, ya know?"
Well maybe a little slang.

Fionna can't see with her back turned, but Amamiya's face was lighting up bright red at the thought.
"B-but I am grateful to the Queen for releasing me!" she hurriedly added. "So I'm not as angry about it as other people."
Reply
Yes, even someone as genuinely as naive as Fionna could still read between the lines. She fidgeted with her hair a little.
"I don't like gettin' kidnapped," Fionna said. "That sucks, and no one who wants to show people a new world should do dumb stuff like that. But I dunno, girls are mostly ok here, and I don't making new friends."
Reply
Her hands were shaking ever so slightly, and she busied them with Fionna's hair to settle them. "I'm sorry, I don't mean to bother you with my problems," she said.
Reply
Fionna was not shy about praise.
Reply
"Thank you," she said. "I don't know if I'll ever get to go home, but when I do I hope he's waiting for me."
That knowledge was sort of worse, in a way, though. It might be an instant for him, but it had still been a year for her...as if she didn't feel guilty enough already whenever she felt an attraction to one of the other girls here in the Gardens.
"Well, it's not like we were even dating yet," she muttered to herself.

Then again, people were complicated, and so, in turn, was life.
"I know he will man. If he's worth it, he will be."
She shrugged. "As long as you know what to do on a date, so what? Dating is no big biz."
Said the dateless hero.

It had taken a lot of shampoo.
"Close your eyes," she instructed before dumping a whole basin of water onto Fionna's head.
