I--

What!?

Well, it's more complicated than that. There are no guys here. [she sighs a little.]

The whole...liking other girls thing...It's not exactly done where I'm from.

[hooray for strictly structured societies.]

I can't blame you for that; I thought and felt the same, naturally for similar reasons.

...But such thoughts can change quickly here, as shocking and confusing as it may be at first.

It just feels too convenient.

[she hesitates, because she does not like admitting this, but it's not exactly a secret, either. It just hasn't come up yet, for some obvious reasons.]

I can't...go near men. I have, well--it's a phobia. So even if I did marry someone, it just wouldn't work.

...I can see how that would make things difficult. Unrealistically convenient or not, this place does lend a possible solution to that issue.

Overall it just feels like the Queen is secretly laughing at me because of it.

But some people go home. Then you'll lose whoever you met here...

You can lose anyone at any time, even without the unique threat this place has. Thinking otherwise is naive.

I guess you're right. But this is a lot less predictable. Or maybe it's just because it's different, it feels that way.

Personally, I would rather have some fun rather than being too timid to do anything at all. But, that is me and I tend to be a bit more resilient to fear than most.

I must applaud your courage then, Your Highness. [coming from anyone else, that might be sarcastic, but she's pretty sincere.]

The whole subject wasn't really a concern of mine until I got here, so I think the idea of it being an obligation to this Queen isn't much of a motivator. I'd like to get there on my own, not be forced into it.

I think anyone would agree on that. I have no idea why someone with so much obvious power would spend it on this. She must be as stupid as she is perverse.

Those were my thoughts, more or less. There are a lot of other things she could be doing, but she chose to focus on romance...

Well, I guess it could be worse.

Of course, this is all based on a very big assumption that could very well be wrong.

You mean that anything that's told to us here is the truth.

Correct. Even this whole matter of romance and whatnot could be a complete facade. I haven't seen anything that suggests a secondary plot in particular, but I am not going to disregard the likelihood any time soon.

I'm not sure which is more frightening--that the Queen is actually that naive, or she's smart enough to act it to throw us off.
