❛ TWO ❧ VIDEO/ACTION ❜

[There are sounds of gunfire from a certain part of the Garden-hollow sounds of metal against metal, a futile attempt, but none the less, an attempt. With her back faced to the mirror stands Gabrielle, her slender fingers wrapped around a handgun. It's hard to believe the woman, dressed and groomed so nicely the way she is, is currently helping ( Read more... )

[Sigh.]

...thanks.

[--just as she catches another robot in the head. Not quite like killing monsters, is it? Clean. Not enough splatter.]

Mn. [Even though she's on guard with the... creatures? surrounding them, she seems to actually be happy. It's a comforting feeling, working along side with Aya, but she says nothing on that matter. Instead, she focuses on the robots.]

This would be much easier if I had my rifle! [Stepping back into a better advantage spot, Gabrielle fires off a few more rounds. Handguns were certainly not her forté, but she still seemed to be using hers fairly well. Of course, it was hard to miss a giant robot coming at you. Even if someone had never touched a gun in their life, they would be able to hit it.] Or at least some more ammo.

That's why you learn to be a little more versatile sometimes.

[Aya says this as she turns around, grabs the nearest heavy object (i.e. ripped a large branch from a fallen tree) and, with some clean swing, lobs one of the metal assailants in one fell swoop. Its head went a-rollin'.]

Like that. Effective and conserves ammo.

[Not quite like her tonfa, but it'll do.]

[Gabrielle scoffs.] I'm very versatile, thank you very much.

[She watches the head of the robot roll, listening to Aya's words. Effectiveness and conserving ammo was exactly why she got a handgun in the first place, always having her sniper rifle around clearly wouldn't work. She says nothing more on the matter, clearly sticking to her handgun for the time being. If she needs to pull a giant tree branch, then so be it-but right now it isn't necessary.]

[For her, at least.]

( Eyebrow. Arching.

She's never seen someone so fancy shooting a gun. ... Well, okay Fifi, but she was stuck in scrappy clothes like the rest of them. )

Careful you don't chip a nail.

[Gabrielle laughs. Oh, she's heard that one many times.]

Thank you for your concern. I'll make sure that the paint doesn't get ruined either.

Mm. ( Grumpy-sounding? Ellie? Never. ) If you've got time to piss about worrying about that, maybe you should be shooting more stuff.

[She crosses her arms, a smile still playing on her face.] Maybe you should stop worrying about how I take care of myself and do some shooting of your own.

[Clare had been nearby when she'd heard the gunshots. Nothing like that really exists in her world, of course, so she'd headed closer to investigate the source of the noise; there's now a blonde woman with a large, heavy-looking sword in one hand, watching them both with some curiosity.]

I was going to offer my assistance, but it seems you don't need it.

[With the large branch the woman had been carrying earlier now beaten to a pulp, Aya drops it in order to pick up her handgun again. Her head swivels around, but thought comes before the initial instinct to squeeze off a few shots into the approaching quarry.

Only it isn't a quarry at all, but a woman that Aya had spoken to before. Clare.]

Seems like it. But hey, thanks for the thought.

...nice sword.

[Unlike Aya, Gabrielle calmly turns to acknowledge the third woman (who she had also spoken with before).]

I don't see what's wrong with having a little extra back-up. [She turns to Aya with her lips pressed into that usual mysterious smile.] After all, we aren't all capable of setting things on fire with our body.

Setting things on fire with your body? [Clare's expression doesn't change much, except perhaps for looking a little bit curious.] That sounds useful.

[Her attention drawn by the gunfire as she's surveying the Gardens, Epsilon quickly flies toward the sound. She gives off light, and it pulses, brightening, as she lands, to draw the attention of human and robot alike. She addresses both Aya and Gabrielle.]

Hello. My name is Epsilon.

There's no need for this violence. I fear this is a terrible misunderstanding.

[The blinding light causes Gabrielle to squint-she's not sure exactly what it is, until she hears a voice calling out. Turning her attention to Epsilon, she remains calm. Almost as if she is doing it in a condescending manner.]

I don't think robots attacking the Gardens is anything remotely close to a 'misunderstanding.'

[Seeing as none of the previous robots had ever considered making peace with words, Aya isn't so quickly to raise arms on the approaching voice this time. She does, however, have her own reasons for raising skepticism towards Epsilon's words. In spite of her... illuminating appearance.]

Sorry, but I'm more inclined to agree with Gabrielle on this.

That is the very misunderstanding I mean. [She replies collectedly, although the violence does distress her.]

These robots come from a world under the ground that the Queen recently opened a door to. They have their own language, their own society, and they build.

They do not speak our language or seem to understand that what they are doing is harmful. This world is so unlike their own. They attack humans only when attacked first, to defend themselves. One can communicate with them nonverbally and convince them to stop. I have done so myself.
