Evenin'- er, citizens? That still sounds weird, but I get the feeling an “evenin' ladies” will give out unintentionally creepy vibes. [ but beyond that, it's more night than it is evening. Batgirl's out in her natural, dark habitat, somewhere around the opening of the newly announced area ] Back home, Team Batgirl consisted of more than just ( Read more... )

I would definitely appreciate a face-punching escort. Uh, assuming it's not my face being punched. But yeah, I'm really interested in our, uh, new feature here.

Fear not, intrepid explorer! Face-punching is reserved solely for those who try to gnaw and/or otherwise maim anyone under my care.

Sounds like the start of a desirable relationship to me!

Golly gosh, I think you might be right! I'd suggest using the magic dirt to rustle yourself up some kinda hard-hat/flashlight combo. Maybe a set of walking boots and two cans on a string.

That last part's just for fun.

A hero! How exciting!

[ Damn, it still feels good to be gettin' some recognition. ]

That's right, ma'am. Anything I can help you with?

Aha, not at all! [Ooh a hero! How cool! It's a certain type of hero that she's not as familiar with, too. No school outfit, surely no transformation scene...

Ah she was getting carried away.]

Forgive me. I suppose you could say I am curious.

Well, you know what they say about curiosity!

... not the part about it killing cats. That other, upbeat, totally optimistic saying that I totally didn't just make up on the spot. In other, more coherent, words: ask away.

I'd planned to go on my own, but since you're accepting volunteers, I'd love to tag along. Better in a group anyhow, I suspect! So, if you don't mind an enthusiastic tech type, I'm your man-- woman. Scientist!

Ah, that's Reeve Tuesti, by the way. Good to meet you. Batgirl.

Excellent! Good to have ya on board, Reeve. You can do your science mumbo-jumbo thing, and I'll nod along, pretending to understand.

Oh, no problem there! I'm well used to doing my mumbo-jumbo thing to the accompaniment of nodding. I'll do my best to keep things informative while you're clinging mysteriously to the shadows!
Speaking of which, do you always do that? Your work as a "caped-crusader" sounds exciting, to say the least.

Yup, that's pretty much my daily-nightly routine. Sleep most of the day, patrol around once it's dark, make sure everything's in order. The Garden is, like, lacking in bank-robbers and guys with explosives strapped to their chests, and they're aren't many rooftops to pound across, so it takes some adjusting to. Not as exciting here as it could be, which is always a plus.

Gotta stretch my wings at some point, though.

Hello, Batgirl. My name is Sephiroth. Reeve has informed me that she's decided to accompany you, and it is my duty to protect her, so I will be coming as well. Forming a team is an excellent idea.

I'm skilled in combat, and I will be happy to assist you.

Fantastic. Here's hoping we get to perform some suspiciously well-choreographed fight routines, and only end up with a few minor bruises and conveniently placed tears in our outfits!

[She smiles.] I would enjoy the chance to use my skills, though it is unlikely that I will be bruised.

Do you fight with weapons, magic, or perhaps both?

Ooooh. [ she breathes in sharply, wincing ] Me and magic don't get along. I'm all about the hand-to-hand business, which, okay, often results in me getting thrown through brick walls and saving the day with the power of gravity-fuelled improvisation. Works for me!

A new place! Filled with lions and tigers and bears, oh my!

-actually, the library already called dibs on the bear-situation. Strike that from the list. But in case that spectacular explanation doesn't clear things up for you, this world is a little on the unstable side. People come and go, structures appear from nowhere, and now, we've got a whole new world to explore.
