It's been a pretty crappy day. I had an appointment with my rheumatologist because the meds I'm on aren't working. He was very short and irritated with me. He asked if we were just going to keep changing medications then and I was like well if they don't work why would I take them? He told me they need to build up in my system, but last appointment ( Read more... )

It's silly but I don't even want to go in an see him again. As much as I try not to, I view him almost as an authority figure and I guess I let him push me around more than I should have. I think a part of me was just kinda shocked that he was rude and didn't seem to care.

I'm looking for another doctor right now. I hopefully can find one that works for me. There aren't many rheumatologists around that are close and in my network.

I'm sorry that you are dealing with all this. I've had fibro for about 16 years so I know exactly what you are dealing with and going through. Typically, for me, I have found that narcotics (and believe me, I've taken them ALL) don't work for FMS. The thing that works better for me is straight off the shelf Advil Liquigels. Because FMS is inflamation. If you hurt, your tendons and ligaments are inflamed. You said the other day you felt like you had arthritis and that is exactly what FMS feels like ( ... )

When I mean inflammation, I mean all blood tests showing so are negative. In other words, not join inflammation like with Rheumatoid or osteoarthritis, which is what the med is for that he is giving me.

I have tried Advil and Aleve and neither work for me. Advil also gives me rebound headaches so I can't take it.My grandma has Vicodin and it works for her.

So I think it's more a different thing for everyone and not everything that works for one person will work for another.

Have you been tested for vitamin D deficiency?

It takes a long time for the effects to be noticeable, but the vitamin D supplements I've been taking have helped reduce the pain I have to much more manageable levels. Some days I actually feel normal, and even my pain days aren't as bad as they were at their worst.

If you haven't already, start taking a 1000 (um, can't remember if it's milligram or what) supplement of vitamin D.

Also, you should set aside a couple of minutes every hour you're at work to do some stretches. It's not going to make things better but with all the time you spend on your feet, at least it'll help you avoid the tension in your body making the pain worse.

*hugs* I'm sorry you're going through this. I can fully sympathize with how much it sucks.

Yeah, I take Vit D suppliments already with Calcium because I'm low. But I've been taking it for quite a while now and this pain is new.

I'm so bad about stretching. But I know I should.

And thanks! (hug)
