It's been a pretty crappy day. I had an appointment with my rheumatologist because the meds I'm on aren't working. He was very short and irritated with me. He asked if we were just going to keep changing medications then and I was like well if they don't work why would I take them? He told me they need to build up in my system, but last appointment ( Read more... )

I'm sorry that you are dealing with all this. I've had fibro for about 16 years so I know exactly what you are dealing with and going through. Typically, for me, I have found that narcotics (and believe me, I've taken them ALL) don't work for FMS. The thing that works better for me is straight off the shelf Advil Liquigels. Because FMS is inflamation. If you hurt, your tendons and ligaments are inflamed. You said the other day you felt like you had arthritis and that is exactly what FMS feels like.

My doctor explained it to me like this: FMS is to ligaments, tendons and cartilage what arthritis is to your bones except there will be no break down in your joints like there is with actual arthritis. Meaning, there will never be any actual decay or 'visible' damage that anyone can see from this disease/syndrome.

Get plenty of rest, watch your diet and try to avoid stress as much as possible. I have found the more stressed I am the more I ache....even though most times you just can't avoid it no matter how much you try.

I've lived mostly med free for years now. Like I said, the ONLY thing I take is the Advil and then only as a last resort. All the years of 'treatment' never showed me that there is anything out there that will do anything to relieve any of my symptoms except for me and my attitude towards them. If I just keep going, taking things easy, but not letting it get me down, I do so much better than giving in and letting it overwhelm me and then trying to find the strength to get back through it.

When I mean inflammation, I mean all blood tests showing so are negative. In other words, not join inflammation like with Rheumatoid or osteoarthritis, which is what the med is for that he is giving me.

I have tried Advil and Aleve and neither work for me. Advil also gives me rebound headaches so I can't take it.My grandma has Vicodin and it works for her.

So I think it's more a different thing for everyone and not everything that works for one person will work for another.
