Using my icon for no reason other than that I LOVE IT!!
She had a hard time getting in and out of my van, and needs two knee replacements. So it's not like she can run around and get the most out of her stays.
I'm going to take a guess and say the out-of-town lady hasn't had those knee issues very long, because you learn really damn fast to plan ahead when you have those issues. I am disabled and when going somewhere, I always ask the questions: 'How high up is the car I'll be riding in?", 'Is the place accessible to me?' 'If it's at someone's house, how many steps up into their house and what floor is their bathroom on?" Because I hate getting somewhere and realizing that I can't actually go in! I mean, even my little brother's wedding, I called him up and made sure there was a ramp into the place. (it was my brother's wedding, I would have gone anyways, but I would have had to have my two guy cousins meet me out front and carry me up the stairs.) Vehicles are especially hard if they are too high up, so I find it's always

CUTE SCIENCE BROS ICON IS CUTE AND SCIENCE BROS-Y!
She has though! She's known for six months that she needs new knees (say that three times fast sorry it was just startlingly difficult to type) and she has to wait another YEAR to get them done due to some other health issues and--yeah. I was surprised and felt kind of stupid because I would have brought a step-stool if I'd known :/ As it was, I did what I could to pull up to curbs or low rocks so she could get a boost.
I HOPE ICELAND IS AS COOL AND FAILBOATY AS IT LOOKS :DD I feel like Iceland is what would happen if you made Alaska an island continent and left it alone for a thousand years, so we should get along with people fiiiiine.
I don't have a tumblr, but I maybe spend uh, too much time in the science bros tag over there. Is there such a thing as too much time when it comes to Science Bros? No. Okay then.

I laughed at six months being a long time - I forget most people weren't born with knee issues.. I mean, it's all relative. People who adapt quickly would figure it out in six months. People who aren't use to having health issues (though it sounds like she is) or are being stubborn about admitting that they can't do the things they use to be able to do (hello, mom) would never adapt in six months. Still, if you are going on a world trip - plan ahead!

Actually, using curbs is a trick I have employed in the past, when I had no choice of vehicle. Good call!

\O/ Though it's probably not a good time for aurora, I think they get the loooong summer days in Iceland too--plus I get aurora in my own back yard so I won't be crushed if we don't see any. MY HEART IS SET ON CAPTURING FOOTAGE OF A TROLL.
