Trying to write. TRYING REALLY HARD TO WRITE. It's insane the amount of free time I have and my complete inability to do anything productive. I've been trying to ignore the problem because thinking about it is depressing, but that also means I'm not working on a way to fix it

I've always enjoyed word wars! Competing against someone for an hour is always motivational and it feels like you don't want to disappoint the other person either by not focusing on the work. And again, you can just tell youself: "It's only an hour..."

I've done word wars before! But I usually wind up with...words that aren't particularly good? Blaaagh. But maybe I should do a thing where I time myself and say NO OTHER THINGS BESIDES WRITING FOR THE NEXT HOUR...or less, probably less :/

it's an extension for firefox and it is awesome (note I was not saying that during November because it kept locking me out of stuff I was trying to procrastinate with - mostly tumblr). You can set your own websites to block pretty easily and if you then find, as I do, that you find different websites to faff about on instead it's very easy to add them to the block as well.

I set it to let me have 12-15 minutes an hour to faff about (depending on deadline and word count)

I wish I could remember who first recommended it to me. I think it was probably my beta.
