.........I just got an interview at a bookstore ten minutes after sending in my application/cover letter.

I feel a little bit weird about the job, tbh. I almost didn't send in my application. It's a twenty minute drive, one way, which isn't so bad except it's in the middle of town and state fair season is coming up...okay that's a pretty petty ( Read more... )

True. Alaska does better than most in employment rates, so I'd probably be able to find a different job...but it'd most likely be in a place like Target or Fred Meyer. It would be nice to pretend that my major is useful for something. :/ Just. Gonna miss writing club people.

I'd say do it, try it, and if you find out you don't like it/can't handle it, you can always look for a different job. But A JOB. It's a GOOD THING. Means money and in my case, getting out of this mad house for awhile.

*cuddles you*

Jobs are good!

Imma be honest with you, though: if you want a job, then sometimes you have to give up time with friends/doing things you like/etc. My roommates and I are bffs, and one of them works 20ish hours a week and the other not at all (though he desperately needs to be looking), and the third is the bitch subletter, so she doesn't count, but not the point, but anyway, I work like 45 hours a week and I never get to do fun things. But you're making money! and being more awesome! And bettering yourself! blah blah blah etc.

otoh, bookstore! bookstores are awesome! YOU SHOULD WORK FOR ONE.

and twenty minute drive? bitch please. I had a job three years ago that I had to drive an hour to. one way. at 3 in the morning 4 times a week. but no seriously, twenty minutes is a relatively reasonable commute, it's not horrific. Any more than 35 and it starts being totally ridiculous, both in time it takes up and in gas money. D:

Ugh, I know. Just don't like it. :((

But yes! Bookstores ARE awesome! Even though I haven't been reading many books that weren't assigned by a professor (or novel-length fics) these last few years, erm. I CAN BULLSHIT, THOUGH. So there's that?

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand yeah, haha, my mom has an hour drive in to her job, then she has to drive around during the day, and then she drives an hour back home. I have no idea how she does it.
