Walk a While With Me by ladyjanelly: Jensen/Cougar (The Losers), read the warnings! This author handled the subject matter with such care and attention, I don't even know what to say. IT COULD BE DARK AND REALLY WHUMPY BUT IT ISN'T. IT'S FABULOUS. GO

Talking with my lovely beta about what-ifs for this fic, there are so many places the boys could have fallen off the right road, especially Cougar if he hadn't gone into the military.

Not a problem at all! I thoroughly enjoyed every word of your fic, and you had me guessing until the very end which path they were going to take--theoretically some strings could have been pulled to bring Jensen into the task force, but I love that you had them choose to be together in a way that meant they wouldn't have to constantly be on their guard about their relationship alkdfld JUST YAY EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS FIC :DD

I really didn't know how it was going to shake out until about 2/3 of the way through. But Cougar couldn't stay there when his heart wasn't in it, and Jake really couldn't go back to the military. Even if Cougar trusted the losers, he was just too damaged to put his life in the hands of another unit.

I just posted an expansion of one of the scenes in the fic, and I've got 4 other timestamps written, just waiting to see if there's enough left to tell to make a sequel.

Hahaha - I laughed out loud on seeing your rec of Tour de Force... I also have LESS THAN NO interest in hockey (well, if it were a physical possibility, I would...) (and anyway, that's now also a lie, I should say I HAD less than no interest in hockey... but I digress), and I've spent the past few weeks mainlining all the Kane/Toews fic out there. I've also spent an inordinate amount of time watching interviews and behind-the-scenes and shots on goal and any other video I can get my hands on - it's embarrassing is what it is! But if you have any further interest in these guys, there is a TON of great stuff at AO3, and a lot of it is superlong. My poor iphone Kindle app - it's all 'who the heck are these dudes?'

AUGH, I'VE BEEN DEVOURING THE OTHER K/T FIC AGAINST MY WILL (and you're right, a surprising amount of it is super long). Have you read the one where there's a charity date auction and kaner tries to fuck his way out of love? It's AMAZING.
