[for the Stark/Pevensie family and guests] - new traditions - dated 25 December

Dec 19, 2008 10:10

Jeyne had never heard of Christmas before coming to the island, but almost two years of living here with so many people for whom Christmas was a great deal, she thought the sentiments of peace and good will, family and food and presents, to be quite appealing. It was because of this that Summerfell was the site of a Christmas feast for family and friends.

For the last few days, Robb, Jon, Peter, Edmund, and Caspian had been busy with hunting, butchering, and smoking meat; and Susan, Lucy, Sansa, and Jeyne had been busy with cooking and with decorating Summerfell to a far more extravagant degree than they had originally planned. Jeyne tired easily these days and did not think she would have the energy to do very much, but she found that placing fresh greenery at the windows and doors and even having something called a Christmas tree, which Susan explained in detail, was not quite as much work as she'd thought. (Susan had also explained the concept of mistletoe, which Jeyne thought very clever, and so Jeyne had hung it in enough places around the house that Robb found himself the recipient of surprise kisses even more than usual.)

There was quite a crowd, for their family was large and several guests had been invited, for Jeyne could not abide the idea of anyone spending the holiday alone whether they were accustomed to celebrate or not. So there was the main table, supplemented by smaller makeshift tables to accommodate everyone. The wolves were constantly underfoot, the air was filled with the scents of food and cider and wine, and the sounds of laughter and conversation rang through the house.

[ooc: gathering post at Summerfell for Starks, Narnians, and guests! I started to add tags for everyone I thought was coming and then gave up, so if your pup's name is not listed I'll add it when you tag. :) Tags can be during or after the meal, and afterwards at present time!]
