The breeder was actually the one that suggested getting him used to the stairs. That way he doesn't learn to expect to be carried? I can see the logic in your point though, it's certainly a tough call.

Oh yes, the breeder also mentioned that. She gave us some of the food she was feeding him and said that feeding them adult food is better.
