I've applied for a research position at George Washington to work in their discourse lab on a project. I'd love to spend the summer in DC and it would definitely give me something cool to add to my CV. The major problem that it would create is it would push back my research that I'm supposed to be doing this summer, which I'm actually not opposed

Well...I vote for you to go to DC...particularly if I stay on the East Coast. Although I do admit that it is for purely selfish reasons :-) I will definitely be keeping my fingers crossed for you!
