Wince!

Aaaah... the sweet sweet muscle ache of a workout. The morning after reminds you that you actually put effort in. Even if I can't walk (as a sign to STRETCH PRE AND POST WORKOUT), it still makes me smile! And yes, I actually like the fact we have to walk up 7 flights of stairs to get to the flat we're currently staying in - unavoidable exercise ( Read more... )

AWESOME! I've never seen them before but have heard crazily great reviews from friends and family. Have you ever been to a show? Apparently, this one has mixed reviews for being 'samey' but I guess that's fine as I've not seen one yet!

I've seen quite a few (Saltimbanco, Quidam, Alegria, Varekai, Dralion, I think, there might have been more but those are the ones I recognise from the list) it's been an annual trip to the RAH for me as an early birthday treat to myself (or for free while dreamsewing was still working for the Cirque) and all were amazing, some better than others. I prefer the ones that have more physical/classic circus acts than arts/dance performance ones but all have been spectacular. Light, sound, music, performances, all work seamlessly together. Setting up the stage for the next act is all integrated into the performance so there are no noticeable breaks ( ... )

Excellent! Thankyou for making me even more excited! I used to get jealous by any performers of this ilk, especially contortionists, but now I understand it's jsut because I think they're so amazing and feats of human potential!

Ah right, ok. What do you reccomend for a warm up? I know I shouldn't just begin, but doing a small bit of cardio before hand normally makes me too restless and makes it harder to concerntrate on working the muscles nice and slowly and surely.

I always stretch before and during a workout. I do my martial arts stretches. I can still almost do the splits, which get me strange looks sometimes.

I usually just warm up (with a layer on top) for about 5-10 mins doing something easy like a light jog, then just a few minutes of basic stretches before a work out, I combine cardio with resistance in my workouts too.

I hate the massive acheiness though, means I can't work out as much on other days! Climbing the stairs at Highgate station nearly killed me last week after I did squats in the morning after not doing them for ages. Was like a nonna getting up those steps...

I'm going to start going to the gym twice a day on Wednesdays and Fridays and have become utterly addicted to Tim's replacement's spin classes (do them twice on Saturdays! My goal is to burn 500cal in one 45min session annnd he plays lots of industrial dancey stuff form germany)...and I've started taking CLA. Need to do more weights though, don't think I'm doing enough resistance, seem to just do spin classes 6 times a week.

In 6 months I want to buy my first bikini, never wore one before. :)

Goodness me. This is why you're an inspiration to us all. I'm really impressed!

I've enjoyed getting back to an hour's worth of cross training every day, but am aware that my usual half an hour walk to and from work is gone now we've moved. Earl's Court Soho Gym is so strange and badly stocked that I've taken to doing my normal crunches at home with my feet under the bed!

I'm a hospital case compared to you and Hal, at least you have Hal to keep pushing you. Hard doing it on my own, probably why I'm finding myself cheating lately, weather's crap, I just want to eat chocolate and bread and damn the consequences - rather depressing really. John said he might try calorie counting so I won't feel so alone.

Can you get to the clapham common branch? It's fantastic in there, tried it out last week. All new equipment, masses of room and even has outdoor seating areas for when the weather is nice. I've just upgraded my membership to get better access to classes, costs a bit more a month, but if it means skipping a few coffee light frappacinos (oh the suffering!), then it's not a lot really.
