Fighting for a happy ending / equilibrium

I'd suggest you read The Road Home by Ellen Emerson White. It's about a triage nurse in Vietnam and both what happened to her over there AND WITH EQUAL WEIGHT AND PAGE TIME what happened to her when she went home and had to but her life together. To my eyes, it deals fantastically with trauma recovery and PTSD and some of the family problems and issues she had before she left. ALSO, there are flashes of humor! Admittely, dark humor, but it is not all trauma all the time! And a big part of the book is her romance with a soldier, it's fantastic.

Speaking personally, I am ALL OVER queen-to-knight relationships and pairings with a more reserved, ruthless lady with a more emotionally open dude. (Sometimes these cross over, sometimes they don't.)

I really love well don't antagonist-to-romantic interest relationships (a la Lizzie/Darcy or Benedict/Beatrice).

YES. I love the unspoken devotion in those kinds of relationships. And emotionally open men and ruthless women are A+ in my book (I think that's why I really love lady knight-male mage relationships).

Agreed! I love that no matter what, Kahlan and Richard always trusted each other.

IKR?! That was one of my favorite things about Legend of the Seeker.
