One project and one exam down, one paper and two more exams to go. :/ My Japanese exam was today (ironic given that today is the 68th anniversary of Pearl Harbor, and that I bought the first volume of Barefoot Gen in the college bookstore -- what, it was on sale! XD), and I have to say it went very well! So I'm spending the next couple of hours

Barefoot Gen, from what I've read, is really good. I haven't bought any of it (I should've bought the used volume I found at McKay's but it wasn't the first one, so I left it there). I recently found most of Banana Fish used at the same bookstore but decided not to buy it because honestly, there were a lot of volumes and I'm running out of room. Also the story looked kind of weird, at least from what I read in the first volume. I mostly just wanted it for the art and I already have too many manga I bought for that reason. -_-
I think I remember reading/hearing about the École Polytechnique massacre in college, but I forgot all about it until now. More recently I read about this guy (the "an heroes" articles on Encyclopedia Dramatica have been one of my guilty pleasures lately). So sad ( ... )

I've heard nothing but good things about Barefoot Gen as well. Have you seen the movie, by any chance? It's really good, and I highly recommend it. (And is Banana Fish by the same mangaka ( ... )

68. MFYYYYY. Halifax is an awesome city, there's a lot going on and it has a really neat culture - all the Maritimes are beautiful, actually. Alas I have never been to Vancouver or Montreal, I'll have to remedy that and report back to you, aha.

68. I've heard a lot of great things about the Maritimes, but because their economy has been in the tanks for a long time now (especially Newfoundland), I'm not sure if I'd actually want to live there, Halifax notwithstanding. And I really want to go to Montreal, considering it's like, two and a half hours away from college. XD
