I suppose at some point I'm really going to have to watch some Flight of the Conchords. Personally, I love the name that fandom collectively created for his character long before he ever had an official one ('Figwit', ie, an anagram for a comment someone made while liveblogging FotR in a chatroom - "FRODO IS GREAT WHO IS THAT??")
My great hope is that we get at least as much peripheral silliness generated from the two Hobbit movies as we did for the three LotR films, like this classic clip (favourite bit at the end, where Gollum suddenly transforms into Vyvyan from The Young Ones).
Incidentally, without knowing the song in question, my brane immediately decided to start singing "Too Many Dicks on the Dance Floor" to the tune of "Too Many Cooks in the Kitchen" by XTC.
