I think I've finally put my finger on what I find so unsettling about the extreme pre-emptive squee over at doctoreleven : they're reminding me uncomfortably of the batchippers.

I mean, at least the chippers had, you know, actual episodes to sort of back up their ship. But the sheer intensity of the Eleven/Amy squee is at least equal to anything the chippers ( Read more... )

Batchipper: n. A nickname given to rabid Rose/Tenth doctor shippers. Descriptive contraction of 'shipper' and 'batshit insane'.

To be fair, I've got a number of Rose fans on my f'list, and they are lovely, sane, witty and articulate people. The batchippers are a breed unto themselves, with their own tribal laws concerning the nature of reality and necessary punctuation.

Tbh I reckon even Batman would be scared of them.

It is unsettlingly rather like watching a slow burn on a long explosives fuse, isn't it? Lord knows what s5 will look like in their minds by the time it actually starts airing...but if they're this loud and ranty when they're actually pleased about something, it gives me teh fear to think what they'll be like if something DARES to disappoint them.

THIS!!!! I don't mind shipping, I do it all the time, but this is a little on the creepy side. They're already rp-shipping. To be honest, I'm not totally thrilled with the companion choice-she looks a bit like a slut to me. But I'll wait to decide.
