You realize that anything you cook in there is gonna feed you for a week, right?

Lessee, what do I usually do in teh Crock Pot? Chicken breasts w/ cream-of-chicken soup... Chuck roast w/ mushrooms & onion in wine sauce... Beef stew... Chili-cheese dip (that one should be in the book that came with -- hint: use ground sausage instead of ground beef for extra yumminess)... Pulled BBQ beef... Homemade applesauce... Pork roast w/ apples and onions... 'Mexican' beef stew...

Anything sound good?

even the wee 2 1/2 quart model? s'truth, that'll be some good value. *hopes*

the applesauce and the pork roast is sounding good...i figured i'd start out with the bog-standard beef pot roast with carrots, celery, potatoes and onions, but i don't even know how much liquid to add.

anyway, anything without dairy or mushrooms sounds okay.

Applesauce -- core and thinly slice enough Granny Smith apples to fill the Crock Pot. Dump in a cup of brown sugar. Cook on low all day.

Sorry, I'm used to cooking in a big 5-quart, or at least a 3-quart.

Um, for most roasts, add a cup of liquid.

I've got a cook book of crock pot recipes, but they mostly involve opening cans. I don't know the point. I tried making pot roast in mine, but it always comes out too dry.

I fired up Mastercook and exported a few recipes we've tried. I make the lentil soup, and also spaghetti sauce, in bulk to freeze. (Spot the vego adaptations! I use liquid smoke flavouring instead of chopped ham or bacon or a ham bone.) Natch, you could use a tangy plain soy yoghurt in place of sour cream of dairy yoghurt ( ... )
