Six blocks down the street and around the corner from Kevin and Xander's office is a small, nondescript bar with the unappealing name "The Pub." Between the office and The Pub is a pathetic stretch of an apartment complex, the kind with rusted railings and the hallways on the outside in the style of a cheap motel. Having been purchased by Soohyun's group but a year ago, only one non-member resident remains, a trusting old woman who is still convinced that the well-dressed young men inhabiting the apartments surrounding her must be God's gift, obviously associated with some kind of church. Kevin and Xander's kind smiles and memorized Bible verses reinforce her belief and so she comes to pose no threat.

Likewise, The Pub is unattractive in all ways. Walking through the front door, one is greeted with a scattered array of mostly broken tables, a suspiciously sticky floor and a bar that never seems to have someone ready to serve. No one outside the usual customers makes it past the entranceway, and even if they do, the rowdy, drunken young men they find inside are always enough to send them packing. The bar may never be stocked well enough, but it's theirs.

The Pub is where Soohyun heads directly after leaving the hospital, even with the doctor's warning that the pain medication absolutely should not be mixed with alcohol. Somehow he doubts that liver damage will be what kills him in the end, especially after today. He shoulders the heavy front door open and slumps through while ignoring the greetings from the others gathered around one of the few functional tables. Eli and Dongho follow soon after, Eli silently amused as he barefully sets Soohyun's bat next to his partner by the bar while Dongho is still pleading his case in a whiny shout. Behind the bar he finds, as usual, nothing strong enough for him, but he settles for a beer and curses five seconds later when he realizes that the bandage on his hand prevents him from opening it. Eli steps up and twists the cap off while Soohyun shoots Kevin a deadly glare and can't wait to tell him that had Dongho been allowed to keep the gun Kevin had given him, Soohyun would probably be without a hand right now. Thankfully, the tiny derringer bullets only had caused some tissue damage and fractures.

Dongho's first assignment was a disaster, even worse than Soohyun could have imagined. "Don't look at me like that," Dongho sneers from where he's carefully settling in between Kevin and Kibum. "The bastard was coming right at me!"

Soohyun makes a choked, furious sound, but stops himself with a long swig of beer. True, the poor guy had gone straight for Donhgo, but he'd been crying and trying to get at his safe which happened to be in the wall behind Dongho.

"Yeah, and you screamed like a fucking chick," Eli chuckles and pats Soohyun's shoulder. Soohyun's forehead creases and his grip tightens on his bottle as he remembers how Dongho had screeched, then fired on the defenseless man, hitting Soohyun in the hand though he'd been standing a good three feet away from Dongho's target. In a panicked rage, the man had turned on Soohyun with his fists and in pain and confusion Soohyun had accidentally landed a hit with his bat that caved in the man's skull, not knocked him out as intended. The combination to the safe disappeared as the man died and they'd left empty-handed.

"Collections didn't go well, I take it?" Kevin asks innocently from where he's playing a round of cards with Kibum, Xander and Kiseob. Dongho pulls up a chair and watches Kevin play over his shoulder and Kibum leans in on his other side and whispers something into Kevin's ear with a wicked smile. Eli gives Soohyun a small nod that says, 'I'll handle this,' and heads to the table where he subs for Xander.

With a shrug, Xander laughs, "Good luck, I'm kicking my ass kicked." He hands off his cards and joins Soohyun behind the bar, pretending not to notice how Soohyun moves back around to occupy a stool at the same time. "Give him time," he says in a quiet sigh, glancing over at Dongho.

Soohyun's mouth twists angrily before he downs the rest of his beer. "I only have so many fingers," he grumbles and flashes his bandages at Xander.

He shakes his head in sympathy and hands Soohyun another already opened beer. "I don't know how you guys do it."

The alcohol in Soohyun's veins starts to take effect, either that or something in Xander's voice is oddly relaxing, and Soohyun feels himself smile before he realizes it. "You two have to get bored sitting in the office all day; I could never do that." Xander seems to ponder that a moment with an amused smile while he pours himself a shot of something dark brown and very appealing. "Pour me one, too," he adds in a mumble.

Xander obliges and replies slowly while Soohyun sips his shot, "It can get surprisingly busy, actually. Besides, compared to the rest of you Kevin and I are pretty useless with weapons."

"You're not bad," Soohyun says with a smile that says he doesn't mean it. Xander narrows his eyes and downs his shot in one go. "Well, your languages are definitely more of a help where you are."

With a proud nod, Xander looks about to say something else, but he spies something over Soohyun's shoulder that makes him smirk. Giving Soohyun a quick wink, he moves around the bar with a slight stumble in his step. A sudden disappointed uproar from the table behind him, and Soohyun turns to find Kiseob walking towards him from the table. "Looks like I'm back in!" Xander exclaims and bounces into Kiseob's empty chair. Dongho says something about wanting to play, but he's ignored and placated as Xander shoves a beer into his hand.

"Hey-" Soohyun starts as Dongho starts to chug with glee.

"It's just lite beer," Xander calls back with a high-pitched laugh. Soohyun knows very well that Xander doesn't even stock lite beer, but Kiseob leans across the bar and blocks the table from view, and Soohyun figures out of sight, out of mind. It certainly doesn't hurt that a whole five buttons of Kiseob's white dress shirt are undone, leaving the material to flap to the side and revealing just enough skin and collarbone to illicit a ragged sigh from Soohyun's lips.

Kiseob doesn't appear to notice the reaction, though, looking directly at Soohyun's hand with concern. "Is it bad?" he asks and takes the bandaged hand in his gently.

Pushing indecent thoughts aside, at least for the moment, Soohyun smiles and nods. "I've gotten much worse." Kiseob smiles back, bright and cheerful and nothing like a man who probably just came back from completing a hit. He touches Soohyun's cheek and Soohyun leans into the touch.

"You look sad." The words are simple and quiet, but Kiseob's wide eyes say much more. Soohyun removes the hand from his face and uses it to pull Kiseob closer until he's standing between Soohyun's legs, his chest shaking with laughter against Soohyun's face as he takes advantage of Kiseob's exposed skin to kiss the base of his neck and shoulder. Kiseob doesn't pretend to struggle, just rests his arms around Soohyun's shoulders and laughs quietly until Soohyun stops.

All thoughts of botched assignments, annoying partners and broken fingers long gone, Soohyun smiles dreamily up at the man in his arms and mumbles, "Can I see you tomorrow?"

The laughter stops and Kiseob frowns. "I can't, I-"

"Already have plans?" Soohyun chuckles and groans, burying his face against Kiseob's chest and shakes him a little in childish frustration. He looks back up and feels a pang of guilt at the regret in Kiseob's eyes. He pulls him down for a light kiss and whispers against his mouth, "You better be free the day after." A nod and Kiseob leans in for another kiss, only to be cut off by a burst of whoops and whistles from the other side of the room.

Kiseob's flushed smile is all that keeps Soohyun from grabbing his baseball bat. "You guys still here?" he asks casually without bothering to look.

"Yes, and I'll have you know that Kiseob and I have a job to do the day after tomorrow," Kibum's scolding voice calls from the table.

"Fucking eavesdropper," he mutters against Kiseob's shirt.

"That's during the day and won't even take three hours," Kiseob calls back over his shoulder as he pats Soohyun's back reassuringly. Kibum quips with something about Soohyun never even takes one hour, much to the amusement of the other card-players, but Soohyun barely hears him because Kiseob leans in and bites his bottom lip and that's all Soohyun needs to lose his focus.

Six hours and their entire supply of alcohol later, with countless bottles of beer behind him and shots taken from glasses and Kiseob's perfect stomach and at some point Eli's as well when Kiseob fell off the bar and blacked out for ten minutes, Xander calls out in his best attempt at a sober voice, "Alright, get out of here, assholes!" Kevin hangs back to help Xander clean up, which means Kibum stays back as well and Kiseob has no choice but to wait on his partner, so he waves the other three off with a giddy hiccup and almost falls onto Kibum's shoulder.

Dongho is the only one even close to sober, so he holds the door open for Eli as he half-drags, half-carries Soohyun out into the dark street. He accidentally lets it fall on his partners, and Soohyun curses at the door, not Dongho. The journey home is a blur, but sometime later Soohyun blinks his eyes open to find himself in his bed with Eli lying across his chest and drooling. Dreading the morning, he closes his eyes and assumes Dongho is sleeping in the living room. If he isn't, fuck it, 'cause there's no way he's getting out of bed.
