I suppose Conrad appears so capable most of the time because we're seeing him from Yuuri's POV. When we dive into Conrad's thoughts, we get this.

I'm working from the Chinese version, so maybe some credit should go to them, and not just me. The Chinese version is here, but I don't know who did the translation.
