I'm not going to do a super long entry about this because due to the fail of my very old digital camera, I had to rely on my iPhone camera for most photos and that wasn't the best choice considering the dull skies that were lingering around for the parade ( Read more... )

Maybe this time we'll manage cushions for our knees.

Yeah, the hand towels really didn't work. At least the lumps on my knees disappeared pretty quickly.

The things we do for Oyakata-sama...

We were the odd foreigners who decided that sun tan lotion was a more effective barrier against the sun and heat than fifteen layers of clothing was.

We didn't want a tan, that's why we were smothering ourselves in suntan lotion.

I held one of their helmets and that was heavy enough for me...

Eee, thank you so much for the report! Just reading about the festival makes me feel all warm and fuzzy! (And I'm not prone to warm fuzzies, either. LOL.)

It's definitely a good experience. Just seeing so many people there for GACKT and how fabulous he is..

Such a long wait. That takes some stamina!

After watching those videos and hundreds of pictures I´m actually amazed how can he manage to keep all that stuff together. And doing it elegantly and seemingly without great effort. Controlling horse in situation like that is extremely difficult and challenging, and with a strange horse, dangerous. He has my deepest admiration and respect.

With that outfit and horse, he truly is Kenshin.

He's very good at controlling the horse without looking like he's controlling the horse, I think. GACKT doesn't react when the horse doesn't follow his instruction immediately either. I guess it's just experience...

That's really boring about your camera. Poor you! No wonder you want to go again next year - take a spare camera in 2014!!

The visit to kenshin's grave and the castle (site) sounds interesting. I think there were a few glimpses on the kenshin "making of" DVD - I need to watch it again!

You're so right about G being the man for the joetsu job. NHK did not get the casting wrong, right? (er - that sounds odd but you know what I mean)

Thanks for writing up. I hope the camera woes are sorted soon.

My camera is old and I knew that I've needed a new one for a couple of years I've just been putting it off in favour of other things. My iPhone is as good as my digital camera, it just doesn't have the settings. Oh well, I'll start saving!
