was it encyclopedia brown? i read those back in like 4th grade, i don't remember if it's what you describe, but it's similar.

also when i was a little lawyer in training in elementary school, i read the "you be the jury" series, solving crimes, it was fun.

you be the jury.. I think I've ready those before too.. hrm. Will have to investigate.

The books I was looking for were called "Hawkeye Collins and Amy Adams" mysteries.. which I never would have guessed. But I've been reading Encyclopedia Brown books too.. and some of them I still can't figure out. I must be really dumb. :)
