Riddle 021: Angel Aftermath

Mar 10, 2011 14:57

[Well, Edward's back from Westport, and he's definitely a little worse for the wear. This hasn't exactly been a very fun couple of days for him. As soon as he gets home, he shrugs off his coat, hangs his hat and his cane on the rack, and makes his way to the phone.]

[Public Call, standard filters in play]This is Edward Nigma. I'm... back from ( Read more... )

[Ren's not sure he's in that class. He just sort of... shows up to classes and things seem to work out. School has never been his forte.]

Mr Nigma? Do you mean the worst one here, or anywhere?

Should I end up canceling classes for longer than expected next week, I'll be sure to keep you and the others posted.

[Eating an apple in your kitchen. Need new locks bro.]

Your riddles need a little work.

[Edward just fixes him with an incredibly sullen look. Johan in his kitchen isn't scary anymore so much as it is just obnoxious.]

[Clearly he needs to fix this. Or you know, just continue to eat the apple. That works too.]

...excuse me.

[Brushing past Johan to get to the fridge. Maybe he'll make pasta.]

[Slugger has heard the phone call -- both the filtered and unfiltered halves -- due mostly to the fact that he has been standing behind Edward for the duration of the call, silently observing him. When Eward turns around, he will find his not!son staring up at him with much fascination.]

...Westport.

[Make with the details.]

[He jumps a little bit at Slugger's sudden appearance, though he's relieved to see that it's only him. Never thought you'd see the day where Edward's actually happy to see him, now did you?]

Yes. Westport. That statue from the other night sent me there.

[This will be chalked up merely as Edward's relief at not finding another stone angel behind him.]

What happened.

I woke up in Westport. Ran into an old friend and investigated the town. May have made a complete and total fool of myself.

[What else is new? But then, this probably isn't what Slugger's interested in finding.]

The town was practically empty, though others were sent back along with us. Thankfully we were never ambushed by hazmats. And the air was breathable. Still, there wasn't much to eat, I barely slept, and I nearly died of thirst. Eventually, we were rescued by someone in a time-traveling police box.

[He wrinkles his nose. He's pretty aware of how weird that sounds.]

Making a mess already?

I've exchanged you for Hiccup in your absence. You're across the street now to the right.

Wonderful. I'll leave in the morning. When I feel less like death warmed over.

[He pauses. Remembers who he's talking to.]

The house doesn't look too badly damaged. So then, you were able to keep things under control?

[That's about as close as he'll get to expressing concern.]

If you're not showing up, that means we don't have to either, right?

Generally speaking, when one says that they're canceling a class, that implies that neither the teacher nor the student are required to attend.

Though I can't speak for the rest of your teachers.

Aw, come on, I have your class in the middle of the day! I won't even have time to come home and take a break in that time.

You're seriously evil!

Take that up with your other professors. Not me.
