The Husband Wins

Mar 22, 2008 21:15

As Husband Mine took me into the garage he said "I couldn't find any bronze jewelery and I am not very good at picking out pottery. So if you want pottery, make it your damn self."

As he led me to the brand new pottery wheel he had just finished making me.

I got him a bronze otter necklace... I'd say he won this year.

anniversaries, husband mine

That's a pretty cool gift. What did he think of the otter?

It was very cute, I just have to figure out how I want to wear it with my garb. :)

*cough* Now if only we could get the kiln set up.

Oh and if I beg pretty like can I throw a bit on the new wheel?

Well, other than I'm sure purpura wants the first throw on the wheel, I don't think that's a problem. Of course, the wheel isn't quite done yet, I'm still waiting for the axle to arrive and then I have to cut the circles (kickwheel and throwing base) out.

fyti, you can usde a sanded chunkof tree for the wheel-head. it does NOT have to be level. i learned this from old sturbridge village.

so what pattern/design did you end up using? Where did you get it? details, man, details!!!!

Hey, you have each other, I'd say you both won.

He may have won "this year" but methinks you win out in the long haul :-D

We've been doing this since our first anniversary. I won the "paper" year. He gave me a sketch book, I got him tickets to Les Miz.

The "fruit/flowers" year we called a draw - I made him a bouquet of "flowers" made out of tulle and fruit flavored jelly bellies. He got me a huge bouquet of real flowers with small bottles of fruit liquors surrounding it.

We also called it a draw on the "Candy/Iron" year. We had a huge party and cooked all the food in iron skillets, including the dessert! Cornbread pineapple upside down cake!

We have a lot of fun getting creative with it!
