If anyone knows of anywhere that is taking applications for a pundit, would you please point me there? Because I have decided that I would make an awesome pundit ( Read more... )

Huh, there's been a couple things I've seen coming before as well but not in politics as I don't pay much attention to or understand them. :-p

Put up a blog on Wordpress or Blogspot (or someplace else which is free and more flexible and more integrated with the larger blogosphere than Livejournal). Call your blog something awesome and inflate your hitcount by having phrases that are commonly searched for on both sides of the fence. Have tons of snark and keep it largely negative. Tag your entries if you use Wordpress, anyone who searches their blogs for a tag sees active blogs with that tag.

Also, link to it from here so we can visit it a lot and post comments, to propel you onto boards like "Fastest Growing Blogs." You will quickly develop a reader base. If there is conflict between you and your commenting readers, excellent! People will keep coming back to watch. Now you are a pundit! Make money by selling advertising, which is easy to do anywhere but Livejournal.

I do have a political blog, but the problem was that creating entries would take upwards of two to three hours, because I tried to cite things that I said with links to news articles, and after I would write an entry, I would go through and edit the language to be more assertive/less passive. So I haven't updated it in a while.

I really should go back to it, but the entries took so freaking LONG.

Getting a readership also involves being active in the political blogosphere, which means reading Daily Kos and commenting on it -- more time. Maybe I'll go back to it and write my blog entries in spurts, so that I'm not setting aside a two hour chunk of my day all at once.

How are you doing, BTW? Haven't heard from you in a while. :)

When I first heard Palin was chosen, I was cheering--"Woo, the republicans have FINALLY chosen someone who isn't an Old White Guy!!" I even considered voting for her (um, I mean, voting for McCain), until I did a bit more research. UGH. She is the embodyment of all those chicks who have picked on me most of my life. And she's a former beauty pagent queen who married a jock. VOMIT!

I am going to do a "throw away" vote this election. I don't like Obama. I think he'll win, and he will probably do some good for the country, but he will also push us further towards socialism, and I HATE that. (Hello? We want the government handling healthcare? The same government that handles education and social security??! No thank you! Plus, look at the dismal health care in socialist countries.)

Actually, people who I've talked to who live in other countries specifically say that they'd never want to live in the US because of our lack of universal health care. Find a few on the internet and ask them if you don't believe me. We're the only first world country that doesn't have it, and I've heard people in other countries say that they consider us barbaric because of it ( ... )

I know a lot of people who are in the middle ground, not poor enough to get government health insurance, but not wealthy enough to pay for their own. Most of these people are students, or working retail. (Or both.) They're paying their rent and buying food okay, but they couldn't afford an extra $200/month, or whatever they'd be forced to pay. You -can- get a modicum of health insurance pretty cheap, but it's not going to cover more than the basics. If you need medication for something, for example, the co-pay is usually pretty high, and a lot of things aren't covered ( ... )
