Karone’s Big Adventure

Disclaimer: PR is not mine. Surprised? Didn’t think so.

A/N: This is for Rosa. Totally her fault. And everything in here is pretty much stolen from her so... (PS. I hate you Rosa.) And for Akume, cause I think she'd like this. ^_^ I would like to point out that I have no idea how to write kids, so you’ve been fairly warned. And yes, it does take talent to type a fic without a space bar.

Summary: Karone and Andros as toddlers. Pure fluff. This started out as a tiny drabble, but it actually got some substance to it once I came up with the title.

Rated: K. Oh so very, very K.

Karone’s Big Adventure

Leyna walked into the nursery rubbing her eyes sleepily, her light blonde hair falling haphazardly on her shoulders. She had thrown on a pink bathrobe and slippers over her yellow nighty.

“Andros sweetie what’s wrong?” she asked, walking to the crib her twin children shared. The gray glow of morning was already seeping in through the windows, bight enough that she didn’t need to turn on the lights.

Her son’s crying had woken her up. It was unusual for either of them to cry. She put her hands on the side of the crib leaning in to look at them. She blinked as she found only one twin in the crib, “Andros where’s your sister?”

Andros sniffled holding his arms out to her, “Mama.”

Leyna sighed picking up her son. “Karna she did it again,” she called, heading towards the door.

Karone lost her balance as she let go of the crib and fell down on her bottom. She giggled proud of herself. She got up waddling towards the door. Mama never closed the door cause she knew they didn’t like it. She pulled it open, making her way towards the stairs.

Mama did however know that she could get out, so the stairs where blocked. Karone frowned looking at the barricade. How did Mama open it? She tried to remember. She reached up to the top feeling around. Nothing. But she wasn’t about to get discouraged. She got down on the floor, pushing against the bottom of the thing standing between her and her goal.

It didn’t move.

Karone sulked. There had to be some way to get around this. She crawled to where it met the banister examining it carefully. She looked past the bars down to the first floor. The crib was the hard part she told herself. She could do this.

Then she saw a yellow button. She pushed it. Nothing happened. Karone looked at it more carefully. Maybe it wasn’t a button maybe it was a pull-button.

She tugged on the little yellow bulb and sure enough, something clicked. Karone squealed happily. She pushed the barricade away, and this time it moved. Not enough to come of, but enough so that she could get out.

Carefully, she crawled through underneath it. But as soon as she did, she faced her next obstacle: the stairs.

Karone debated this for a moment, she didn’t want to fall. She decided she’d have better luck if she stood up, so she did. Then she frowned. That just made the steps seem even further down.

Then she had an idea. She sat down and scooted to the edge of the first step. When she hung her feet over the side, they touched the next step down. She clapped happily then scooted down further, and stood up on the next step down. This was going to work! She repeated the process all the way down to the ground floor.

By the time she got to the bottom she was tired. Karone thought about taking a nap, but then she remembered why she was here in the first place. With a renewed sense of purpose, she happily took off towards the kitchen, or at least what she thought was the kitchen.

Karone was baffled when she found a wall blocking her way. This couldn’t be the way to the kitchen. So where was it? She hobbled off in another direction, but there she found the big door. The one she wasn’t allowed to go through without Mama or Daddy.

She frowned, disappointed, but more determined than ever. She had come this far she wasn’t about to quit now!

She tried one more time, encouraged as the soft carpet gave way to the smooth white and blue pattern she knew was the kitchen floor. She giggled happily as she came around the big cloth draped table, and found herself surrounded by cabinets. She knew immediately which cabinet to go for, it was like radar. She clapped happily when she opened it and found the pretty silver package.

“She’s not in here either Leyna,” Karna said, coming out of the study.

“Well she has to be somewhere,” she told, him bouncing still fussy Andros in her arms “look again.”

“Cookies,” Andros said, around his thumb.

“No honey, not now. We have to find your sister.”

“Cookies,” Andros said again, sulking.

“Leyna,” Karna called.

“What is it?” she asked, looking up to see him standing beside the stair case. “No she couldn’t have-”

She stopped when he pushed the gate out with his foot. Leyna gasped, hurriedly following Karna down the stairs. ”Karone?” she called out, worry apparent in her voice.

There was no sign of Karone in the living room. “Karone honey are you down here? Please come out,” she called to the empty room.

“Cookies,” Andros said again, insistently.

“Don’t worry Leyna, she’s done this before. She’s just hiding. I’m sure she’s fine,” Karna said. Though his tone didn’t do much to reassure her.

“Cookies!” Andros insisted, squirming in his mother’s arms.

Leyna sighed, “Ok let’s get you some cookies.” She walked with him towards the kitchen. “Karna” she called, stopping in the doorway “come here.”

“What is it? Did you find her?” Karna smiled, seeing the site before him. One of the kitchen cabinets was open and a trail of crumbs led from it to the kitchen table.

“Cookies,” Andros explained.

His parents exchanged a smile, kneeling down beside the table. Karna lifted up the floor length table cloth, revealing Karone sitting beside a now empty bag of cookies, the last one still in her hand.

“Andos!” she exclaimed happily.

Andros wiggled out of his mothers arms and hobbled over to sit beside his sister.

“Cookie?” she asked, offering him the last cookie.

Andros nodded, “Tank you, Karone.” He broke the cookie in half, giving her the larger piece. She squealed in delight, happily finishing it off.

Karna laughed while Leyna just shook her head, “You laugh now, but I’m going to work soon, you’re the one who’s going to have to deal with Karone on a sugar high.”

Andros finished his half of the cookie and wrapped his arms around his sister, “I love you Karone.”

“I love you too Andos.”
